Sustainability

The future is green.

At Transfurans Chemicals, we turn agricultural crop waste into bio-based chemicals and polymers for the production of sustainable end-use materials with a high bio-content and a low carbon footprint.
With the waste stream of sugarcane as the prominent source of raw materials and the use of green energy, we continuously strive to decarbonize and reduce our energy footprint.

Sugarcane is where it all starts. It is one of the most energy-efficient and intrinsically sustainable crops on the planet. The bagasse, the waste that is left over after the sugar has been extracted, is converted to Furfural. This Furfural is transported to our site in Belgium where it is the main raw material of all our products.

100% of the carbon in furfuryl alcohol and derivative products is bio-based. More than 97% of our raw materials are bio-based and by preference made from agricultural waste streams. We continuously strive to decarbonize and reduce our energy footprint, our wind turbine at our production site is one of the best example of our commitment to these goals

Reshaping the future of sustainable products

Converting biomass into valuable chemicals gives us the ability to deliver high quality products with a low carbon footprint to our clients. Integrating renewable energy with our own on-site windmill which accounts for 70% of our total energy use helps us to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions even more.
