2-Methyltetrahydrofuran (MeTHF) is a green solvent used in the pharmaceutical industry in organometallic reactions and as an extraction solvent. It is a green and safe alternative for Tetrahydofuran or DCM and has multiple superior properties. It also has potential in alternative fuels.

The higher boiling point and azeotrope with water gives econominc benefits in the use as a solvent in many applications. In Grignard reactions to manufacture API’s higher yields can be achieved as an additional benefit over traditional solvents.
