EXPLORE SECTORS

Our chemical platform finds it's origins in the conversion of hemicellulose to furfural. Furfural, a CO2 neutral chemical is converted into furfuryl alcohol. This renewable alcohol is subsequently polymerized to polyfurfuryl alcohol (PFA or Poly-FA). Poly-FA is the basis of our thermoset resin systems: BioRezTM - FuroliteTM.

One of the unique properties of Furolite PFA resins is their excellent resistance to high temperatures.

Fire-resistant Composites

Cured furfuryl alcohol polymers have the ability to crosslink the cell wall of wood. With this technology the properities of wood are upgraded so plantation grown softwoods get durability characteristics similar to tropical hardwoods.

Building & Construction: Wood modification

A typical application of PFA resins is the production natural fibre reinforced composites. PFA resins (BioRez) have an excellent adhesion for lignocellulosic materials and find use in typical thermoset applications in automotive and furniture.
